In today’s edition of “what’s the catch,” ... what’s the catch here? Manual coupe, (supposedly) clean title, very low mileage. KBB value is at least a few thousand dollars higher.

“3.2L V6 engine”
So the owner doesn’t know much about cars. This could either be a good thing or a bad one. The lack of pictures is worrying.

Wait, that shows only 13k miles, this seems weird. I can’t be real. I doubt “I am the single owner” and doesn’t know that is comes with a straight 6 and not a V6.

Cracked rear subframe?

2nd one would increase value ... in some cases

My first guess would have been a missing digit in the mileage number, but he’s got the picture... that’s such low mileage it’s sort of worrisome. And no VIN to run a CarFax.
My second guess is that it’s somehow simultaneously suffering from both VANOS and subframe problems.

Wait why does the tach look like it doesn't rev that high?

I think it’s a BMW M thing ... the rev limiter lights go off as the engine warms up.

M3's that were made from 2003.5 to the end of the production run had the subframe issue resolved, this is an ‘05.

My guess is that it’s a classic bait-and-switch.

If these are really getting this cheap, it might be time for a new beater. (03.5+)

As the engine oil warms up, the red line gradually increases. I think when my E90 is cold it’s limited to 6k, and it won’t rev past that. I forgot about that one time right after I first got the car, and bounced it off the decreased limiter, by accident.
